1. Policy Statement
Sacred Skills is committed to providing a safe, respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all learners, staff, facilitators, and associates.
We recognise our responsibility to safeguard learners from harm and to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion across all areas of our provision. We do not tolerate abuse, discrimination, harassment, or victimisation in any form.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
All learners
- Directors, staff, contractors, facilitators, and volunteers
- All learning environments, including online, blended, and in-person provision
- Sacred Skills primarily delivers education to adults; however, safeguarding responsibilities apply to all learners regardless of age.
3. Safeguarding
3.1 Commitment
Sacred Skills is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of learners. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all concerns are taken seriously and handled appropriately.
3.2 Safeguarding Lead
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is:

The DSL is responsible for:
- Receiving safeguarding concerns
- Taking appropriate action
Making referrals to external agencies where necessary
Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed
3.3 Types of Harm
Safeguarding concerns may include, but are not limited to:
- Physical, emotional, or psychological abuse
- Sexual abuse or exploitation
- Financial abuse
- Neglect
- Harassment, coercive control, or bullying
- Radicalisation or extremist influence
3.4 Reporting a Safeguarding Concern
Safeguarding concerns should be reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
If there is an immediate risk of harm:
- Emergency services should be contacted (999)
- The concern should then be reported internally
- All concerns will be handled sensitively, confidentially, and proportionately.
3.5 Online Safeguarding
As Sacred Skills delivers education digitally, safeguarding measures include:
- Clear learner conduct expectations
- Appropriate professional boundaries
- Moderation of online spaces where applicable
- Secure handling of learner data in line with GDPR and UK data protection legislation
4. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI)
4.1 Legal Framework
This policy aligns with the Equality Act 2010 and applies to all protected characteristics, including:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender reassignment
- Marriage and civil partnership
- Pregnancy and maternity
- Race
- Religion or belief
- Sex
- Sexual orientation
4.2 Our Commitments

4.3 Learners
All learners will be treated with dignity and respect and supported to engage fully in learning activities.
Any concerns relating to discrimination, exclusion, or unfair treatment will be addressed promptly and appropriately.
4.4 Staff & Facilitators
- All staff and facilitators are expected to:
- Uphold inclusive values
- Challenge inappropriate behaviour
- Deliver learning in a fair, accessible, and respectful manner
5. Reporting Equality or Inclusion Concerns
- Concerns relating to equality, discrimination, or inclusion may be raised:
- Directly with Sacred Skills, or
- Through the Complaints Policy
- All concerns will be handled fairly and without prejudice.
6. Confidentiality
Information relating to safeguarding or equality concerns will be shared only on a need-to-know basis and in accordance with data protection legislation, including GDPR.
7. Review
This policy is reviewed annually or sooner if required due to changes in legislation or organisational practice.
